Brian Kahn has played woodwinds for over 50 years and is passionate about sharing that lifelong love of music with the next generation of students. He studied Telecommunications and Film at San Diego State University, with an emphasis in music, and has built a rich, varied musical career spanning performance, recording, composition, and education.

Brian has performed in just about every kind of musical setting, including jazz band, concert band, marching band, jazz quartets, funk bands, and rock bands. He has recorded on independent albums and written music for television specials for FOX Entertainment, bringing both creativity and real-world professional experience to his work as an instructor.

He currently performs with the SPSCC Jazz Big Band in Olympia and with the Pacific Northwest social justice band Artesian Rumble Arkestra.

Brian believes teaching is a calling. His goal is to give each student a solid launch pad, helping them build skills, confidence, and joy so their musical journey can soar to new heights.
