The PreSonus SW5E serves as a five-port AVB switch, designed to facilitate the networking of multiple StudioLive Series III consoles seamlessly. It enables the linking of various PreSonus consoles and mixers, such as StudioLive AI-series consoles and StudioLive RML rack mixers, allowing for versatile configurations like using a rack mixer as a stagebox or pairing a rack mixer with a StudioLive CS18AI control surface. Additionally, it facilitates cascading a pair of StudioLive RML-series mixers into a unified system via AVB networking. Built with a heavy-duty all-metal chassis and rugged etherCON connectors, it ensures reliable performance, making it suitable for professional use on the road. At Ted Brown Music, we value the SW5E's integration of an internal power supply, eliminating the need for a wall wart. Whether networking second- or third-generation PreSonus StudioLive gear, the SW5E simplifies the process effortlessly.
Audio-Video Bridging (AVB) simplifies the transport of audio signals in real-time over a local Ethernet network, leveraging a set of IEEE standards. It ensures the preservation of audio and video quality and supports nanosecond sync accuracy, irrespective of network activity. AVB networks utilize standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables for connections, allowing multiple AVB devices to be interconnected via AVB switches like the PreSonus SW5E. This approach streamlines installation significantly — instead of dealing with bulky analog cables throughout a building, users can leverage existing Ethernet infrastructure for seamless integration.
