Developed in collaboration with Grover Schiltz from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Fox Model 500 is an exquisitely crafted professional English horn made from select, seasoned grenadilla. As with all of the company's instruments, the Fox Model 500 features superior keywork from Fox’s master artisans and assemblers, including a full conservatory key system with silver-plated keys. This English horn is noted for its immaculate playability, stable intonation, and rich, sonorous tone. It comes with several thoughtful features, such as two professional XL bocals (#2 and #3 lengths), Teflon-tipped stainless steel adjusting screws, a premium case, and a comfortable thumb rest with a strap ring, making it a standout, heirloom-quality instrument.

The Fox Model 500 is crafted from select grenadilla, which is highly prized for its tonal qualities in professional instruments. This choice of material not only offers a striking appearance but also delivers a deep, resonant tone. The instrument includes stainless steel arbors and wire springs, trill keys, and a third-octave key tone hole. Nickel-silver-lined tenon sockets and caps on the lower tenon shoulders further enhance its durability and performance. Additionally, the Fox Model 500 is equipped with cork pads on the low C and higher notes, as well as a bladder pad on the low B.

The Fox Model 500 features a full conservatory key system with silver-plated keys, designed to support advanced techniques. The key system includes a third-octave key, a left-hand F key, an F resonance mechanism, a B tab, an articulated C# mechanism, a split D ring, a low B with a vent key, and numerous trill keys. Each key is meticulously hand-mounted by Fox’s skilled team, ensuring precision and reliability for expanding your playing technique and exploring the full range of the instrument’s capabilities.
