For more than three generations, the Dörfler family has manufactured string bows of superior craftsmanship based on the style of the French bow maker Tourte. The sound quality of a cello ranges from highly powerful to very sensitive; top-of-the-line Dörfler cello bows cover the full musical range and won the 2013 Gold Medal at the International Bow Making Competition!
The Dörfler brazilwood bow is a finely tuned trio: Massaranduba (Brazilian Redwood) is used for the stick, genuine ebony wood for the frog, finest mother of pearl or iris for the eye and the slide.
Bow #9 Brazilwood Nickel Silver Series is a beginner’s model with a special octagonal massaranduba wood stick. This type of wood sits comfortably in the hand of the musician and is also suitable for young players.
