The Boss Katana-100/212 is a 100-watt, 2x12 guitar combo amplifier built on the same tonal research that shaped Boss's flagship Waza amp series. The result is an amp that punches well above its price bracket — delivering full, dynamic tone across a wide range of playing styles, with enough headroom and speaker real estate to handle rehearsals and mid-size stages without breaking a sweat.

Five Voices, One Amp
The heart of the Katana-100/212 is its Amp Type control, which selects from five distinct characters: Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown, and Acoustic. These aren't simple EQ presets — each character draws on its own circuit voicing. Clean stays transparent and responds well to picking dynamics; Crunch adds controlled grit that works for blues and classic rock; Lead opens up the gain range; Brown is the tightest, highest-gain voice in the lineup, derived directly from the Waza amp's circuitry. Acoustic rounds things out for acoustic-electric guitars, shaping the frequency response to avoid the feedback-prone muddiness that straight electric settings can produce. With a full gain, volume, presence, and three-band EQ section on the front panel, you can dial in a sound quickly without diving into menus.
Power Where You Need It
With two custom 12-inch speakers moving 100 watts, the Katana-100/212 has the kind of output that fills a room. The Power Control switch brings the output down to 50 W or all the way to 0.5 W — which means you can get the feel of a driven amp at home practice volumes without losing the character. The tonal response stays consistent across the power settings, which isn't always the case on attenuated amps.
Effects, Tone Settings, and Recording
Boss integrated a three-section effects engine directly into the amp — no separate effects processor needed — with Booster/Mod, Delay/FX, and Reverb each adjustable by knob on the front panel for quick onstage adjustments. Going deeper, the free Boss Tone Studio software (connected over USB-B) gives access to 65 effect types, detailed signal routing, Cabinet Resonance modeling, and Air Feel settings that shape how the mic'd emulation sounds at the recording outputs. Eight Tone Setting memories — accessible in two banks of four from the front panel — let you save complete snapshots of your amp character and effects setup for instant recall. The USB port doubles as a direct recording interface, feeding mic'd cab emulation straight into your DAW without additional hardware.
Setup and Monitoring
A built-in tilt stand lets you angle the cabinet back for better monitoring on stage or in a rehearsal room — a practical detail that matters on smaller stages where the amp is sitting close to your feet. Connectivity covers the expected bases: effects loop (Send/Return), Line Out, expression pedal input, and a dedicated GA-FC footswitch jack for hands-free Tone Setting switching.
