When you pick up the SR Standard 5-string electric bass by Ibanez, you'll immediately recognize the commitment to quality in this value-packed instrument. Playing the SR Standard 5-string feels akin to its higher-end SR Series counterparts, thanks to its sleek 5-piece maple/walnut neck and comfortable arched nyatoh body, topped with highly figured poplar burl. A pair of Ibanez PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups provides a powerful punch, complemented by the versatile 3-band EQ with Power Tap, offering a wide range of sound-shaping possibilities. Whether you're a novice bassist looking for a quality instrument or a seasoned professional in need of a dependable backup, the Ibanez SR Standard 5-string offers exceptional value.
Acclaimed SR feel:
Ibanez's SR line of electric bass guitars is renowned for its comfort and playability. The iconic, sculpted shape of the SR Standard body naturally fits against your body, allowing for uninterrupted performance. The narrow nut and thin contour of the SR neck facilitate quick string skipping and effortless movement along the fretboard, ensuring a comfortable playing experience.
Sonically versatile electronics:
The onboard electronics of the SR Standard 5-string offer a vast array of bass tones. Ibanez has equipped their SR Standard 5-string electric bass guitars with an active 3-band preamp featuring a 3-way Power Tap switch. These electronics utilize the PowerSpan Dual Coil neck and bridge pickups, providing numerous tone-shifting options. The Power Tap switch toggles between humbucking and single-coil performance, as well as a blend of both, expanding the SR Standard 5-string's tonal capabilities.
Ibanez: a brief history
Ibanez's journey began in 1908 as the Hoshino Gakki company in Nagoya, Japan. While the company initially focused on importing guitars from Spain, it began manufacturing its own Spanish acoustic guitars under the "Ibanez Salvador" name in 1935. By the late 1950s, Ibanez ventured into electric guitar production, gaining recognition in the West during the 1960s for its guitars inspired by American designs. In the late 1970s, Ibanez shifted towards crafting original guitar and bass designs, cementing its reputation for innovation. Additionally, Ibanez is renowned for its effect pedals, notably the Tube Screamer.
