Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions:
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial transactions
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Perform credit card reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial transactions
- Perform and organize employee reimbursement expense report and provide to Payroll preparer
- Conduct general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting systems and processes
- Monthly state excise tax preparation
- Quarterly / annual city excise tax preparation
- Document retention for efficient retrieval
- Pay invoices as they come in and create purchase orders

Skills and Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Accounting or Finance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office applications
- Experience with bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and general ledger accounting
- Knowledge of technical accounting principles and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Mathematics skills for accurate record-keeping
- Administrative skills for filing financial records
- Multi-tasking and organizational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines
- Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with vendors, suppliers, and other employees in the company

PTO Benefits

Full-time employees will receive sick leave at the rate of 1 hour per every 40 hours worked. In addition, full time employees will receive 1 week of vacation accrued at the rate of 1.54 hours each pay period for two years. After the two-year anniversary occurs, employees will accrue 3.08 hours each pay period or two weeks of vacation each year. Once the employee reaches 7 years, vacation time will be accrued at 4.62 hours per pay period or three weeks per year. Sick leave and vacation time can be used as accrued with no waiting period.

In addition to your salary, Ted Brown Music offers a competitive benefit package of medical, vision, voluntary dental, 401K, six paid holidays, sick leave, and one week vacation. Eligible dependents can be added to all medical for an additional cost. You will become eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers/scanners.

Physical Requirements

This position is predominantly sedentary. However, it requires routine use of office equipment fax, copy, and scan. While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, point, type and maneuver promotional items. The employee must also frequently lift and / or move items over 20 pounds. The working condition may be loud; due to consistent demonstrating of musical instruments and pro-audio equipment.
